The Pakistan Embassy in Switzerland serves as the diplomatic representative of Pakistan to Switzerland, as well as to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva. The Embassy's mission is to promote and enhance bilateral relations between Pakistan and Switzerland, and to provide consular services to Pakistani citizens in the country.
H.E Aamir Shouket
Ambassador of Pakistan for Switzerland
Joined the Ministry of Foreign of Foreign Affairs in 1994 and since then has worked on various positions at Headquarters and abroad. During his 27 years of diplomatic service, he has served at home and abroad on various assignments. Mr. Shouket also served in the Secretariat of the Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, located in The Hague, as Deputy Chief of Cabinet/Advisor to the Director General of the Organisation.
He holds a Masters degree in International Relations from the Australian National University Canberra and an Executive MBA in Human Resource Management from Preston University Islamabad. He has also done a diploma in Russian Language from the State Pushkin Institute in Moscow.

DISCONTINUATION OF MANUAL VISA APPLICATION
The Government of Pakistan has decided to discontinue issuance of manual Visas. Therefore, the Embassy of Pakistan will NOT entertain manual visa applications after 31 January 2021.

E-Visa Application Requirements
The time frame for issuance of visas of each category is menioned on the visa website. Therefore, the status of visas applied online can be checked through applicant's online account. The Embassy cannot update anything about visa status through phone calls/Emails.
Applicant need to create an account on the above website. If there are more than one applicant, all applicants can apply from one account. However, separate visa applications to be submitted for each passport holder/traveller.
- For applicant's below the age of 16 years, separate visa application form needs to be submitted along with Parent's Consent Form, Copies of Birth Certificate, Copies of Passport and ID Cards of Both Parents (to be uploaded in the Documents Section of the Visa Application Form).

- Nature of Emergency with documentary proof (if any)
Please note that this facility of Emergency is only for Pakistan origin Foreign Nationals and their families.
Machine Readable Passport (MRP) service is available in the Embassy.
MRP is a Computerized Travel document which is readable by machines installed at all immigration check points in the World to verify the authenticity of the travellers. Issuance of MRP is an automated process and it does not require a picture or hand written form. The applicant personally visits the issuance site and the data including photograph, Biometrics (finger prints) are captured through computer after online verification of the National Identity card.
Passport Application
Following is a quick check list of requirements:
- Original Valid CNIC/NICOP with photocopy
- Current Passport with photocopy
- Residence permit with photocopy
- Applicant has to come to the Embassy in person for his/her photograph and biometrics
- Also provide a return envelope (registered mail) for sending documents by post if not collecting personally.
Important Note: Both parents will have to visit the consular section for issuance of Passport to their child under 18 years of age.

BIRTH REGISTRATION AND ISSUANCE OF PASSPORT TO MINORS
For birth registration you have to provide the following:
- Duly filled in application Form called Form-S for Birth Registration.
- Letter of Consent/No. Objection Certificate (will be provided by the consular section and both parents will have to visit to consular Section and sign the document in the presence of a consular official at the Embassy).
- Parents must show the following original documents to consular office and provide a copy of each:
a. Birth Certificates bearing the name of the child and the names of the parents with photocopy.
b. Passport and Citizen National Identity Card (CNIC) of parents with photocopy.
c. Swiss Resident permit of parents with photocopy. - 02 photos of the child for registration
- Also provide a return envelope (registered mail) for sending documents by post if not collecting personally.
Important Note: It is advised that parents seeking the registration of newly born child should simultaneously apply for issuance of NICOP at http://id.nadra.gov.pk. One can apply for Machine Readable Passport only after receiving NICOP.

Legalization / Attestation
Following are our requirements for legalization of documents:
- The documents issued by the Pakistan Authorities should be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad or Deputy Chief of Protocol Offices (Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta) before presenting it to this Embassy for attestation.
- The documents issued by the Local Authorities should be attested by the Swiss Federal Chancellery before presenting it to this Embassy for attestation.
- Copy of valid CNIC/NICOP/POC alongwith valid passport and residence permit of the applicant is required if document is issued by the Pakistan Authorities.
Attestation of Power of Attorney
The requirements for execution/attestation of a Power of Attorney executed by a Pakistani citizen are as follows:
- Original valid CNIC/NICOP/POC of the Executant(s)
- Original valid Pakistani passport of the Executant(s)
- Original Swiss Residence Permit
- Physical presence of the Executant(s) at the Embassy is mandatory
- The original Power of Attorney, which is to be signed in the presence of an authorized official of the Embassy.
- Copy of CNIC/NICOP of the Attorney(s)
- 02 Passport size photograph of Executant(s)
- Copies of all documents
Digital/Online/Automation of Power of Attorney
In order to facilitate the Overseas Pakistanis the Government has launched the automation of Power of Attorney. Instead of physically appearing in the Embassy for attestation of Power of Attorney, the executants can apply online while sitting at home.
Procedure for online attestation of Power of Attorney will be as follows:
Step:1
The user or executor shall visit the online portal and sign up in order to be facilitated by online services to apply for the attestation and administration of any oath.
Step: 2
Once logged in, the details of executor, attorney, witnesses as well as all relevant documents are required to be uploaded.
Step:3
Upon successful verification of the details by NADRA and successful fee payment of $36/, Pakistan Mission Abroad, will conduct online interview.
Step: 4
Upon successful conduct of the process Pakistan Mission Abroad will issue receipt
Step: 5
The executer can then print the receipt and physically dispatch the instrument and receipt both to the relevant agent or nominee, as the case may be
Eligibility and Pre-requisites
Before submitting an Online Power of Attorney (PoA) application, Applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be an Overseas Pakistani.
- Details of Attorney and Witnesses
- Valid Identity document of each Applicant including CNIC / NICOP / POC.
- Valid Identity document of each Witness including CNIC / NICOP / POC.
- Valid Identity document of the Attorney including CNIC / NICOP / POC.
- Valid e-mail address
- Contact Number and Mailing Address in the country of application (outside of Pakistan)
- Biometrics of Applicant (Best 4 fingers)
- Biometrics of 2x Witnesses (Best 4 fingers)
- Credit Card / Debit Card to make online Fee Payment within the application
- Actual Power of Attorney (scanned copy to be uploaded in the PoA system by Applicant)
- Any other relevant documents (for example Affidavit, where applicable, to be uploaded in the PoA system by Applicant)
- In case of a Foreigner, the Applicant is required to physically visit the concerned Pakistan Mission Abroad after having their documents attested from their country’s State Department/Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
